Talent Search

WHAT IS APPALACHIAN EDUCATIONAL TALENT SEARCH?

Educational Talent Search is federally funded by the Department of Education and sponsored locally by Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority.  The primary purpose is to identify qualified students with potential for education at the postsecondary level and encourage students to complete high school and to undertake a program of postsecondary education.  Talent Search serves students in grades 7-12.

Talent Search will assist students in the following areas:

  • Study skills (time management, note taking, test taking, etc.)

  • ACT preparation

  • Counseling services (personal, career and social)

  • Completing postsecondary applications

  • Financial aid and scholarship information

  • Cultural trips

  • College visits

HOW CAN I JOIN TALENT SEARCH?

There is no charge for services provided by Talent Search including cultural trips or college visits.  The program requires a completed application in order to serve a student.  A completed application will give the staff information to verify the studentís eligibility but does not guarantee admission into the program.  The information obtained by the application is confidential and will be shared only with Talent Search staff and for reporting purposes to the U.S. Department of Education.  Application can be obtained in the Talent Search office located at Campbell County High School in the main office.
